The Under 18s played their third Channel League match of the season at Cleeve Cloud GC on a very windy and chilly day. The course presented a challenging test in tricky conditions.

The team got away to a great start with good wins for Taylor Stote and Kobe Adams , Alex Manley and Seb Church and Tom Barker and Miles Richardson. A further half came from the pairing of Ben Josham and George  Worthington. The final point in the foursomes went to Somerset as a result of Gloucester being a player short.  So the boys took a  4.5 - 0.5 lead into the afternoon singles.

Gloucester rallied and looked keen to make amends for their morning performance. In the first 6 games Somerset recorded a half point from Taylor Stote. After 10 holes played Somerset were down in 7 games all square in 2 and only up in 1.

Steven Blake took an impressive 5 + 4 victory and Will Warman followed him.

With 3 live games we needed a point for the win. Seb Church won the 16th and 17th to go all square but found a tricky lie from a good tee shot on the last to loose the final hole and the game. George Worthington dug in but also lost on the last.

So the result came down to the last game which stood all square on the 14th. Both players holed good putts on the par 3 15th and 16th. Both got drives away on the 17th although Ben had a tough 2nd of 185yrds from the rough. He hit a great shot to 10ft. His opponent then missed the green and Ben took the hole and control . He holed out from 30ft on the 18th to take the game and the match.

All credit to Gloucester  for putting up a great fight but well done to the boys for securing their second win of the season.
