For the final match of the season the under 14s headed over the bridge to Wales and Creigiau Golf club to play against Glamorgan. The morning foursomes started with Adam Jolly and Kyle Miller running into the top two Glamorgan players and losing 4/3. Charlie Hooper and Lewis Coward fought well but lost 1 down after a match which had been close throughout. Ashton Wiley and Timo Scobie were in a tight match until Timo accidentally putted twice in a row to concede the 8th hole that they would have halved to lose 2/1. The final two pairings faired better with Sam Floyd playing his first county match joining forces with Bailey Langford to win 2/1. The final pairing of Dewi John also playing his first match and Jackson Carey headed down the last 1 up but took three from the edge of the green to finish with a half. The morning score was 3.5 - 1.5 to Glamorgan with the boys feeling they hadn't made the most of their opportunities.
After some lunch and a refocus the boys went out determined to take their opportunities in the afternoon. Adam Jolly was out first and was holding onto his rival over the front 9 but a burst of good holes meant the match finished 4/3 to Glamorgan. The next match to finish was Sam Floyd who showed his current great form and won 6/5. Bailey Langford came up against a strong opponent and lost 5/4 after a slow start. Lewis Coward has really discovered his form over the past couple of matches and dished out a 5/4 defeat to a previously unbeaten Glamorgan lad. This left the scores at 5.5 - 3.5 with the rest of the games very close.
Charlie Hooper had fought back to be all square going down the last but his opponent played a great approach and won the match 1 up. Ashton Wiley was the next to finish with a 4/2 defeat which left Glamorgan 7.5 -3.5 and Somerset needing to win the remaining four games.
Kyle Miller went down the last 1 down after losing the 17th and couldn't change the score to finish 1 down. Timo fought to the end but eventually lost 3/2. This left Jackson and Dewi out on the course. Jackson managed to take his match down the last all square and played a great approach and a nerveless two putt to continue his unbeaten record in county singles. Dewi was 1 down on 17 facing a tough 6 footer for par which he holed and then watched his opponent miss a two foot putt to go down the last all square. Both boys left themselves 5 foot putts for par and after his opponent missed Dewi confidently rolled his in to secure another point for Somerset and complete an impressive debut.
The final score was 9.5 - 5.5 but a good finish to the year against as always one of the strongest counties.
