I think this is what you meant to say Skipper!
There was a lot at stake at Saltford as Team Somerset took on a strong Glamorgan side on a very damp day. The sun had completely disappeared behind the rain clouds all over the county, with reports coming in of play being washed out at events in the South West.
Individually, this was the last chance for players to put their hands up for selection to the squad that will compete for us in the county finals at Trevose. As a team, this was a top of the table clash between two of the form teams in the league.
The match was very closely contested throughout the day with Somerset just coming out on top in the foursomes with a 3-2 advantage.
Everything was still to play for, and the conditions began to improve as the singles got underway. Neither side could gain an advantage as matches finished with two wins and a half for both sides in the top five games.
Things turned Somerset's way at the bottom of the draw, as wins for Will Poole, Sam Sloman and Matt Turner , followed up by a half from Andy Ferris took the match away from the visitors as Somerset took the singles 6-4. The final outcome was an overall 9-6 win for Somerset which returns us to the top of the league with a match against Devon to come.
Saltford Golf Club were magnificent hosts for the day, and the SGU Executive were out in force to support the team. Many thanks to all concerned.
