This was our first match of the season held at the beautiful course at Sherborne and we were warmly received, the day was overcast and the rain mainly held off with no wind.
This was one of the Jack Roberts League matches in which all eight players counted for the first time, previously six with two reserves.
The morning foursomes started well with Captain for the day Dewi Johns and Stanley Richardson just missing a final putt on the eleventh for the win but never the less walking off with a very good half against a strong Dorset pairing.
Bailey Langford and Kyle Miller were second out and again against another very strong Dorset pairing but a fantastic bunker shot from Kyle putting the ball two foot from the pin again on the eleventh was enough to clinch our first win of the morning. The next two groups were more evenly matched but didn’t go our way for Ashton Wyllie and Harry Selwyn but our final pairing of Jackson Cary and Josh Owen proved that however far behind you go there’s still hope and with coming back from 3 down and going three down again finally finishing with a win…amazing.
We went into the afternoon with a comfortable 2 ½ - 1 ½ advantage and our boys didn’t disappoint with Bailey eagling the 13th and sealing our first win of the afternoon. Things only got better with Stanley Dewi and Ashton all winning their games and sealing our first match win and with Kyle and Josh comfortably winning their games was just the icing on the cake, talking of cake it was Kyles birthday and both teams enjoyed Kyle's birthday cake…what a day.
The Dorset President and there exec members were very impressed with the boys and congratulated them on a terrific win.
