UNDER 14s CHAMPIONSHIP

Long Sutton GC - 17th April 2009

The Under 14s Championship was held at Long Sutton GC on the 17th April with a good field of 35 players.

Ben Davis, the reigning Under 14 Champion was paired with Josh Knight in the last game of the championship and, as both were hot favourites to win some good golf was expected. Neither boy disappointed as both played exceptionally fine golf and it was nip and tuck right to the last green. Unfortunately, due to a small administrative error the championship was awarded to Josh on a card countback when the situation should have been resolved with a play off on the day. Since it would be unfair on both boys to return for a play off Championship Chairman Dennis Longden decided that, for this year, the championship would be shared and both boys awarded a silver medal. In third place was Jamie Fletcher of Windwhistle GC with a score of 82.

Of particular note was a terrific round of 88 off a handicap of 36 giving a net 52 from Dan Morton of Saltford. Taylor Stote of Enmore Park GC was the Net runner up with a score of 62 and Calum Hannay of Mendip Spring GC third best net with 65.
