West of England U18 Open Amateur Stroke Play R1 Rules

All Championships shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf and such Local Rules and Conditions of Competition as shall be approved by Somerset Golf Union. All players must be of Amateur Status as defined by The Rules of Amateur Status.

The West of England U18 Championship will be played over 2 days, 54 hole medal, the winner will be decided by the lowest gross score combined 54 hole. In the event of a tie the Championship will be decided by playoff.
There will be prizes awarded for each round No competitor may take home more than 1 prize.

SGU Competitions-General Conditions, Championship Information, Transportation Policy & Parental Consent Forms (PCF) which must be completed and handed in before play commences.

Please note, Caddies must be under 18 on 1st January of the year in which the Championship is being played, and must provide a (PCF) before play commences. Proof of age may also be requested.

Local Rule due to extreme weather:

Burnham & Berrow, “If the ball is at rest on a closely mown area within the general area, it must be placed on a mat. The mat must be positioned no nearer the hole than the ball’s original position. If the ball so placed rolls from the mat, it may be replaced without penalty. If it still fails to remain on the mat, the mat must be moved to the nearest spot, no nearer the hole, where the ball will remain at rest. There is no penalty should the ball move or be moved after being placed on the mat and before making a stroke, including when addressing the ball or making a practice swing. Should a tee peg be used to secure the mat the ball must not be placed on the tee peg. If the player uses a putter in the general area cut to fairway height or less, the ball must not be placed on the mat. On all par 3 holes the use of a mat when playing the tee shot is compulsory.
If any player is found to be in breach of Rule 1.2a, the Burnham & Berrow committee may impose a disqualification penalty for acting contrary to the spirit of the game if it finds that the player has committed serious misconduct."
Penalty for breach of local rule. Stroke play. General penalty of 2 strokes.

The committee reserves the right to impose further sanction for any continued
misuse of these rules
