U18 Success League The success league shows the standings of the players after 4 Counties and the first Channel League match. 22nd April 2009

Somerset U18 V Gloucestershire U18 The Somerset U18 team commenced their Junior Channel League matches with a visit to Filton Golf Club Bristol to play Gloucestershire U18.  On a wet day the result turned out to be a miserable one for the Somerset lads going down nine games to six. 22nd April 2009

Distance Measuring Devices Somerset Golf Union, following a decision by the English Golf Union, have decided to allow Distance Measuring Devices (DMDs) in all competitions under their control. 1st March 2009

Pickeridge Bowl Draw Twenty teams have entered the Pickeridge Bowl this year and four matches will be played in Round 1 by the 17th May. Team Captains are reminded that bowl matches are to be played by or on the specified date, it is in your interest not to leave it to the last day. 25th Feb 2009

Phil White takes South Western Counties Championship

In a thrilling finish Phil White of Somerset won the South Western Counties Individual Championship with a six under par score of 134. England squad players Billy Hemstock, Miles Mackman and Chris Lloyd, who broke the course record in the afternoon with a 63, could only watch as White played some superb golf in the afternoon for a 5 under 65 to take the title from playing partner Ben Loughrey by one shot.

This win was well deserved by White who disappointingly lost the Somerset County Championship two weeks earlier in a play off at Taunton & Pickeridge.

Curtis Edwards wins Championship play off

In a dramatic play off Curtis Edwards beat Phil White over 4 holes after both had scored an excellent two under par 136. White had played solid golf throughout the day with two rounds both one under par. Edwards with a superb three under par on the opening round could only manage one over in the afternoon to go into the play off.

You can download posters, start sheets when they are published just after the closing date for the championship, entry forms, results when they are published immediately after the completion of the championship, and all the past winners.

The archive will include our centenary minutes but that work is still in progress, as is a list of our Past Presidents, Captains and Officers.

An innovation is the automatic news feed from the BBC golf page which will ensure that whenever you visit the site it will have some new content.

The site is exceptionally easy to navigate and we believe user friendly so go on have a go.

Outstanding Year for Matt Kippen

2008 was a magical year for Matt Kippen winning both the Somerset Junior Championship and the County Championship. His one under par 145 also helped Enmore Park to win the Champion Club trophy. At the Annual Dinner Brad Whittock, the County Captain presented Matt with the Player of the Year Trophy.

Matt also won the English Schools Individual Championship and came 19th in The Berkshire.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome the new members of the Executive Committee and congratulate Dennis Longden on his election to the Presidency.

Congratulations to Stephen Butterfield from Cannington Golf Club who becomes the Junior Vice President, John Atkins from Wincanton on being elected Vice Captain and of course our very best wishes for a successful season to Steve Haines who becomes County Captain.

Jim Cunning joins us from Clevedon Golf Club with extensive experience of club management and competition processing. Mike Curtis joins from The Mendip Golf Club having steered the club through an exciting centenary year as their Centenary Captain.
