Playing away to Dorset at Yeovil the U14 team achieved a great win in the Jack Roberts Trophy. This is competed for by the top 6 players in each County playing in the corresponding Channel League fixture. Somerset won the trophy by 5 points to 4.

The morning round did not look very good with all matches down after three holes but a fine 2/1 win for Alix Kew and Alfie Jubb gave us our first win this was soon followed up by a win on the last for Lewis Coward and Ollie Brimfield when Lewis sunk a four foot putt to win the match.

Going into the afternoon singles three wins were required to win the trophy and Huxley Howell leading the side in the absence of Dylan was soon on top in his match with Tom Kollberg going on to win 4/3.

The other matches were much closer with the lead changing hands all through the afternoon. As the afternoon moved on things look much brighter and Alix Kew soon got Somerset's second win beating Alex Elwick 2/1 . The match hinged on Ollie Bromfield who went out like a storm soon having a four hole lead over Brad Bonner, Brad kept winning holes back but towards the end Ollie soon established his superiority winning his match 4/2.

“A great win for team Somerset” said President Tommy Tulk who was impressed by the Boys behaviour and course management shown during the match.

Sadly, Somerset lost the overall match by 7 points to 5.
