We had our second match of the season at a sunny and windy but very friendly Isle of Wedmore Golf Club.

The morning foursomes began with Dylan Xanh and Charlie Goss our Captain for the day not faring so well going 4 down after the first 4 holes which made for a hard come back eventually finishing 3 & 1down. Alix Kew and Alfie Jubb brought in our first point of the morning with Freddie Turnell and Kyle Miller two of our younger pairings bringing a smile to everyone’s faces with their two Gloucester opponents towering above them, they struggled on the first few holes going 2 down but pulled back at the end winning one up, a great effort.

Our final pairing James Rew and Bailey Langford narrowly missed going 1 up with a lip out from Bailey on the 8th hole making the match all square going up the last but  Gloucester had the edge with a tee to green drive making the morning foursomes two all.

The afternoon singles proved a bit more testing with five of our singles struggling to win their matches.

Charlie Goss won with a comfortable 5&4 finish and our morning stars came up trumps again with Freddie Turnell halving his match and Kyle Miller just pipped his opponent on the last giving our final singles result 2 ½ - 5 ½ to Gloucester.

Over all result Somerset 4 ½    Gloucester 7 ½
