The Weather Gods were not kind to us, and it was pretty evident when arriving at the course that a change in order of play was required. It was therefore decided to play the singles in the morning and assess the situation after lunch. All matches were away by 11am and the rain was relentless, with the green staff and organisers doing an admirable job keeping the greens playable.
Although we lost the singles 6-2, four of the matches went down the 18th and the result for the Jack Roberts trophy could have easily gone our way. There were notable performances from Charlie who secured his win, with a well thought-out final hole after his partner found trouble off the tee, and a half from Kyle who was 3 down at one point. Lewis secured a half for the second match running and a win must surely be around the corner. All of the matches were in by 2.30pm and the lads enjoyed a well earned hot drink.
It was however still raining and it was decided to cancel the foursomes and take 2 points each. A big Thank You to the Golf Club and green staff who worked so hard. For the team, it was the second loss in a row, but it could so easily have gone the other way and their dedication the cause is undoubted.
