Team Somerset hosted Gloucestershire at Orchardleigh Golf club on Sunday 9th July 2017 with the course in fine condition and and playing superbly with firm fast and receptive greens. Somerset were off to a flyer winning the foursomes session 4-1 to make the job a lot easier in the afternoon session. Our only reverse was a narrow defeat for Phil White and Sam Fernley who lost 1 down.

As we knew they would, Gloucestershire started strongly in the afternoon, winning two of the first three opening games. Our team is full of spirit and came fighting back, and 4 wins and 2 halves in the next six matches made the final result a clear win for Somerset

Our next fixture is an away trip to Cornwall in a match to be played at Trevose. This will be a magnificent opportunity for some practice at the venue of the County Finals in September. Competition for places is bound to be strong as players will be looking to impress the selectors for the opportunity to represent Somerset.
