The Under 18s continued their season with a visit to Downes Crediton for the Greenaway Trophy match with Devon.  The course was well presented and a fine morning produced some excellent golf.

After nine holes of foursomes all of the  matches were level.  Four of the games went to the 18th green where a couple of missed puts and some good play from Devon saw them convert four of the five games into wins with Somerset pairing of Jake Bovington and Alix Kew picking up our only points with a well earned half.

The afternoon singles were always going to be tough with a 4.5/.5 deficit to make up. Unfortunately the top three matches involving Dylan Xanh, Huxley Howell and Ollie Brimfield all went in favour of the home side. Jake Bovington halved his match winning the 18th hole to come back from 1 down. Louis Archer struggled in the afternoon and his loss gave Devon the match win.

Somerset did well in the remaining games with good wins from Alix Kew, Michael Nicholls, Charlie Goss and Alfie Jubb.  Tom Hayden secured a half at the 18th which resulted in Somerset taking 5 points from the singles which was a good performance.

The win for Devon secured the Greenaway Trophy following their win over Cornwall. Congratulations to the players and to their Manager Graham Moore and his team.

Many thanks to Downes Crediton for hosting the match and looking after both teams on the day.
