Mixed Fortunes for the team at the 4 Counties Junior Tournament

This picture sums up the attitude of the boys, they were fun to be with and played with real commitment and represented the county well.

After the heavy defeat to Devon the boys bounced back with a good match play win against stroke play winners Dorset. 5 of the games went to extra holes after some remarkable golf. We managed to secure wins form Dylan, Jack, Huxley and Louis and were beaten in extra holes in the games involving Josh and our foursomes pair of Charlie and Matt.

We narrowly failed to beat Cornwall going down 4 - 3 loosing two games on the 18th . There were good wins for Dylan, Matt and Charlie in the singles.

Dylan was the winner of the County trophy for the best overall performance at the championship.

Dorset took the Stroke play event. Dylan was the runner up in the individual stroke play with an impressive 72.

Devon took the match play title on count back with two wins.

The Somerset team will have learnt a great deal from the experience and will be better equipped for the South West Counties EG qualifier at Came Down in July.

My thanks to coach Russell for all his hard work and the support from Tommy Tulk, Paul Middleton, Norman Banfield and Martin Higgs
