Somerset Golf Union is looking to appoint a County Coach for the Somerset County 1st and 2nd

Teams Job Description.

The position of Performance Coach (PC) is awarded on an annual basis, it is expected that all aspects of the role will be conducted in the County’s best interest and all decisions will be made on this basis. Requirements include: To be a PGA Qualified Professional To prepare a list of all elite players in the County considered suitable for the men’s 1st and 2nd team squads and supply copy to the County Captain (CAP) and Vice Captain (VC) and other officers of the Union as from time to time required; amend list to record players’ ongoing performance. To work in collaboration with the captain to identify players and create a 1 st and 2 nd team squad of players for the winter development program. Regularly liaise with CC and VC as to players progress (forwards or backwards). To have a good, collaborative relationship with the County Captain in all areas to include coaching, and selection. To advise re team selection; should there be a difference of opinion between the CC and either the CAP or VC, the view of the latter shall prevail To have a significant commitment to their personal and professional development. To prepare the selected teams for matches/ tournaments; to advise re players’ course management; to do all things necessary to enable the players to play to best of their ability. To develop short, medium and long term player development plans to meet player aspirations Able to maintain statistics on players and able to interpret data to assist players with analysis and setting of appropriate performance goals. Has access to and is able to use a variety of electronic tools E.G. (trackman/flightscope) To produce a written report and attend meetings of the Coaching and Development sub-committee; along with an annual appraisal at the end of the playing season to produce relevant statistics and to participate in a review of the players’ performance Jointly with the CAP and VC , to prepare a winter coaching and Development plan to include where required specialist coaches, which shall include such areas such as strength and conditioning, performance psychology, diet and nutrition and team building. This is to be fully costed in September/October to enable the County Treasurer to prepare the budget for the financial year beginning 1 st November. To Conduct and or / Supervise 1st and 2 ND Team coaching and Development programme to include warm weather training. Along with regular reviews To attend Men’s SWCGA Championship To attend Junior and Men’s Championships. To attend 1 st and 2 ND team matches as from time to time required To communicate with players’ technical/home coaches To submit to the Treasurer or Secretary their invoice promptly. Remuneration £7000 per year Circa 100 Hours per year.
