Under 14 Winter Coaching Continues

For the morning sessions, the boys split into two groups. One set off with Ian and Matt to the short game area and driving range to focus on chipping and pitching, the others went with James Lambdon for an introductory lesson in sports psychology. A short session in the classroom  was followed by a trip to the putting green where the boys were encouraged to analyse their thinking during a fun putting challenge.

After lunch, the boys headed out to the Lakeside course for 9 holes of golf where they were encouraged to record their rounds to help to focus on what areas they need to improve their scoring and handicaps. The answer to better scores is invariably the short game! Boys and parents agreed that tthe day had been well spent with the session  with James would prove beneficial in all sporting activities. My thank to all of the Coaches for their input, and of course to Mendip Spring for their use of their facilities and looking after us so well.

Our next session with the boys will be a trip to Brean Golf Club on March 20th for a practice round ahead of the Under 14 & Under 12 County Championship which will be played on April 21st. We would like to invite entries from all boys with a WHS handicap within the County to enter the competition. Click here to enter online
