Our competitive season came to a close at a very busy Henbury Golf Club for our friendly fixture against Gloucestershire. Their Mens 1st team were hosting Glamorgan in a Channel League match so a big thank you to the Club and the Members for their support of county golf.

Henbury is a very pretty course located just outside of Bristol, providing a fair test of golf in its parkland setting and offering some spendid views of the city and countryside. Our boys were quickly into their game for the morning foursomes. Troy and Finley won the opening game for us before Ryan and Alex added a half point in a closely contested game.

Then followed a run of success for Somerset, winning the three remaining games. Noanh and Luke eased to a 3&2 win but Charlie and Jenson had to dig in to secure their point, finishing 1 up on the 9th. Our final pairing of Zane and Johnny, promoted from the Under 12s to make their debuts for the Under 14s, enjoyed an emphatic 4&3 win.

Somerset also dominated the early stages of the afternoon singles as Troy and Ryan earned us the first 2 points, both winning 3&2. Gloucestershire then began their comeback, but Noah held on to win his game 1up to ensure that we could not lose the match. Alex was also made to battle all the way before securing the half point we needed to ensure the match was won. The next 2 games went Gloucestershires way before Charlie earned his win, finishing 1 up on the 18th. In between defeats for Zane and Johnny, Jenson secured our final point of the match, holding his nerve to win 2 up.

It was a great result for the team that contained players from all 3 of our squadsthe Under 14s, the Development Squad and the Under 12s. Thanks to everyone who took part, you deserbed this boys!

The Gloucestershire team and Henbury Golf Club were very welcoming, so thank you to them for providing an excellent match on a very well presented course.
