The President and Junior Organiser of the Somerset Golf Union, Ian Poole, was delighted to welcome 53 boys to Worlebury Golf Club to compete in the Boys County Championships. The weather was kind to us – the sun shone and the rain stayed away – unusual for this Bank Holiday weekend!
The Under 18 & 16 Competition was played over 36 holes whilst the Under 14s Championship was decided over 18 holes. Most of the County Squad players were involved so the standards were expected to be high. We were also pleased to see some new faces on the County scene, and they were particularly welcome as their introduction to Somerset County Golf.
The Under 14 County Championship was retained by Peter McGivern from Taunton & Pickeridge. His score of 73 put him 4 shots clear of clubmate Finley Pyke. Tate Sinfield -Day competed a clean sweep for T&P by winning the prize for the best nett score.
Jack Isaacs won his first Somerset trophy by taking the honours in the Under 12 Category with a gross score of 80. Winner of the prize for the best nett score went to Ollie Roach with a score of 66 – 5 better than handicap! Full results can be seen above

2022 U14 & U12 COUNTY JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
What a wonderful day, enjoyed by all! When we arrived at Brean, the sun shining and a keen, but manageable breeze blowing. The course looked good, and the welcome was first class as Andrew March (PGA Professional) took care of everything and everyone.
Playing in handicap order the Under 14’s and Under 12’s set off down the first as members looked on in appreciation of talent and youth.
It was good to see the support of the Brean members present, some of which stayed all day and supported the eventual presentation. Their enthusiasm was supportive of good, and not such good scores.
