A lovely day greeted both sides to Burnham & Berrow for the friendly match against Glamorgan The sun was shining as both teams headed to the driving range before the start of the nine holes foursomes on the Channel Course. Honours were even  with 1 win for both sides with two halved. Finley Pyke and Owen Roach lost out 3&1 in the opening game. In game 2, Wills House and debutant Joss Monachello to gain a half.  Zane Bignell teamed up with Johnny Cunningham battled back to secure another half point. In the final game, Ryan Bowden and Neo Cooper secured a 3&1 win for Somerset as the teams headed in for lunch.

The wind began to pick up in the afternoon, and the boys were delighted to be able to play the singles games on the Championship Course. The opening 2 games went the way of Glamorgan despite the best endeavours of Ryan and Finley.  Owen Roach  secured the first point for Somerset with a 3&1 win. Joss Monachello fought back to close the gap on his opponent who started very well. In the end, it was a 3&2 win for Glamorgan. Games  5 and 6 also went the way of our visitors, Zane going down 3&1 with Neo  losing 4&3.

Captain for the day Wills House produced an impressive display of golf as he eased to a 7&6 win. In the final game, Johnny Cunningham  battled to the very end before having to accept  a defeat  on the 18th green.

Despite the scoreline, there were a lot of positives for the Somerset boys to take from the match. Each game was played in a great spirit with many holes being decided by whose putt  found the hole and whose slipped by.

Congratulations to Glamorgan who ran out worthy winners, and thanks to them for a very sporting and enjoyable game.

Our thanks also to the members and staff of Burnham & Berrow for allowing us the use of the course, and the splendid hospitality the both teams enjoyed. It was a day for all to remember!
