Long Sutton win the Trounson Trophy

Although the weather was clear and dry, a cold northerly wind made scoring difficult at Clevedon on Sunday. The home club were out at the top of the field and set the target with a combined total of 233 from their counting scores. Other clubs lookd as though they might have a chance before falling just short.

Towards the end of the day, Long Sutton appeared as the team most likely to threaten as newly appointed Club Captain Paul Wills and Luke Appleton returned net scores of 76. Allen Pilkington was third in, but his score still left Clevedon in the lead. Andrew Issacs was Long Sutton's last player on the course, and he needed so score 80 or better to deny Clevedon the win - and 80 was what he scored!

The round of the day came from Farrington Pak's Shane Phelps with a net score of 71, set against a CSS of 75 and reductions only, this was some performance. For the results please click here for the Trounson Trophy, and here  for the Presidents Trophy
