Seniors emulate the First Team by beating Wiltshire 8 -7

On Monday, 13/05/19 the Seniors played their first representative match against Wiltshire at Kingsdown GC. The team contained four new recruits who had performed well in the pre-season trials. These were:

George Ceely, Wheathill

Jeremy Parrott, Burnham & Berrow

Simon Rudd, Oake Manor

Frank Ward, Burnham & Berrow

The team made a slow start In the am foursomes and, after six holes, were down in four out of the five matches. However, they rallied to finish even with both counties gaining 2.5 points

Following a strong start in the pm singles, good news ebbed and flowed. Typical of this fixture, all players remained on the course offering increasingly vocal support to their colleagues playing further down the order. The Somerset “tail” needed to wag and it did just that with Neil Folland (Burnham & Berrow) and Martin Cashnella winning their matches to secure the team’s victory.
