Worlebury Triumph in Rain-Soaked Pickeridge Bowl Final
The 2025 Pickeridge Bowl final at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club was a contest shaped as much by the weather as by the golf. With driving rain and swirling winds battering the course, Worlebury Golf Club emerged victorious over a determined Clevedon GC side in a dramatic and hard-fought encounter.
Worlebury made a strong start, holding the advantage in three matches at the turn and trailing in two. Early momentum was on their side, but the worsening conditions soon turned the match into a test of endurance.
In Match 1, Worlebury’s lead-off player showed great resilience, recovering from two down to level the match heading to the 18th. However, Clevedon edged the final hole to take the opening point.
Worlebury responded in Match 2 with a composed 5&4 win, levelling the overall score.
As the rain intensified, Match 3 saw Worlebury three up through nine, only for Clevedon to mount a stirring comeback and steal the win on the final hole.
Match 4 was a gritty affair. Worlebury again led early, two up at the turn, and despite a strong fightback from Clevedon, they held on through the worst of the weather to square the match at 2–2.
With everything riding on Match 5, Worlebury dug deep. They took an early lead and, despite the punishing conditions, never let it slip. The decisive point secured a 3–2 overall victory and the Pickeridge Bowl title.
Both teams deserve immense credit for their skill and determination in the face of England’s early autumnal weather. A special thanks to Burnham & Berrow GC for hosting a memorable final.
