Orchardleigh will be the hosts of the County pairs Better Ball competition in 2018, a competition that is growing in popularity throughout the County. The course is one of the finest in Somerset, and you will be able to enjoy Orchardleigh at its very best, and hopefully the weather will be set fair for us again.

2017 Competition

The most recent of our county competitions was played this year at Saltford Golf Club. The course was in splendid shape, especially so due to the hot and dry spell of weather we had enjoyed. The sun was out again for us on the day, and the tournament was held in glorious conditions.

There was some excellent golf on the day, where Phil Howells and Stuart McGill from Entry Hill pushed their clubmates James and Dave Ashby into fourth place on countback.

The winners were the Stockwood Vale team of Mike Walker and Rob Martin with a better-ball score of 44 points. They opened up with 19 points over the first 9 holes, and pushed on to score a further 25 coming home. They finished with 3 straight pars to beat home players Tony Skinner and Adam Baker by 1 point.

The competition continues to grow in popularity, and we hope to see a bigger field next year.
