Somerset fielded a much changed side for the match against Glamorgan at Clevedon. With several regulars having returned to their studies stateside, the opportunity was there for some well deserved promotions to the first team.
The match finished evens at 7.5 points each, and both the Captain and Coach were delighted with the result. Andy Ferris enjoyed a hard fought win in the singles at the 18th green. With the match all square, his second shot finished nicely on the short grass and the pressure was on the visitor to do likewise. However, his thinned approach shot went through the back of the green, necesitating a penalty drop. Two putts from Andy sealed the win and a crucial point in his debut match on his home course.
Kobe Adams also repaid the faith shown in him by Captain & Coach by winning both his games on his full Channel League debut - tremendous achievement.
Trailing 2-3 after the morning foursomes, the team put in a strong performance to take the afternoon singles by 5.5-4.5.
Captain Justin Lane said afterwards "I would like to thank all the players who have represented the county during my 2 years as Captain. We now go onto the England Golf National Finals to hopefully finish off a fantastic year."
