A disappointing start to the Channel League season for the Somerset 1st team, losing at home to a strong Wiltshire side.

Phil White & Sam Fernley got us off to a good start, winning their foursomes 3 & 2, followed by a half from Will Poole & Tom Sloman. Wiltshire fought back by winning the next two matches, but a win from Jeremy Larcombe & Taylor Stote meant it was all square in the morning.

In the afternoon singles, Team Somerset came flying out of the blocks with wins in the first 4 matches from Sam Fernley, Phil White, Tom Sloman and Will Poole. We now led the match 6½-2½ and seemed to be heading for a comfortable win. Wiltshire though had other ideas and came storming back to win 5 of the last 6 matches, with only a half from Ollie Worts adding to the Somerset score.

Several of the matches went down the 18th but the feeling was that this was one that Team Somerset let slip away.
