On the 27th July the County Under 14 boys travelled to Knowle Golf Club to play Gloucester, it is one of our shorter away journeys and with the weather set fair and the course in superb condition we were set for a great day's golf.
The morning foursomes did not disappoint with both sides playing some superb golf, but however hard our boys tried, Gloucester just had the rub of the green and we went into lunch having lost all 5 matches narrowly. A team talk over lunch and the youngsters went out full of energy and expectation. This year our squad is giving away a fair bit of size and age advantage and this is starting the show, in the fact that although they are playing well above standard the distance advantage of our opponents just starts to take over on certain holes. The top order struggled, but the middle order and tail wagged with notable victories from Kyle Miller winning on the last, Timo Scobie, who was 3 down with 4 to play and won the last 4 holes and Josh Owen who was always in control winning 6 and 4. Ashton Wylie also added to the points tally with a creditable half.
A tough day for the lads, but their heads and enthusiasm remained high and they were again a credit to their County.
