Llanishen Golf course provided a good test for the channel league fixture with Glamorgan. Although the course is short it provides some challenging holes.
Glamorgan were a player down in the morning which provided us with a valuable point for Matt Ison (Enmore) and Toby Gerrish (Lansdown) It also looked as though Josh Higgs (Wells) and Tom Smith (Lansdown) would pick up a second point as they lead their match for most of the morning. They were very unlucky to lose the last having found the pot bunker some 40 yards from the green which left Josh with a tough bunker shot, he played it well and the 15 ft put only just failed to drop. Glamorgan chipped and putted from just off the green for a birdie 3 and the win.
The boys came out fighting in the afternoon singles. Tom Barker (Burnham) completed a good 4 +3 win against a Welsh international. Josh Higgs was unlucky to loose his match having fought all the way.jack Partridge came from 4 down , winning the last to secure a half point and a draw.
Miles Richardson (Burnham) was 3 up with four to play and was very unlucky to lose the last four holes and the game 1 down.
Cameron Barrett (Long Sutton ) was taken to the 18th but won the hole for a 2 up win.
The younger players showed good spirit against strong opposition but lost out to some excellent golf.
The singles result could and probably should have been much closer.
Next match at Saltford on Friday 12th August.
