On a very busy weekend of golf for Somerset, with the 1st and Under 18 team also having fixtures, Development Team Manager James Ward and his team had a hard task in front of them against Champions Elect Glamorgan.

The visitors took an early advantage in the foursomes, and only Will Parkman denied Glamorgan a clean sweep as he halved the top game. Somerset went into lunch trailing 3½-0½.

Glamorgan came sprinting out of the blocks in the afternoon and soon secured the overall match by winning all of the 5 opening singles. The Somerset tail of Simon Mankin, Josh Freeman and Matt Blackman each won their matches to reduce the deficit, but the win and the title went to a deserving Glamorgan team.
